Non-Executive Chairman

Christopher Fay is Non-Executive Chairman at Brightside Group plc.  Christopher is also a member of the Remuneration Committee. In addition to his role at Brightside, Christopher also occupies the same position at IOFINA plc and Stena International SARL. He was also Non-Executive Director at Anglo-American plc from 1999 to 2010. Dr. Fay was awarded a CBE in 1999 for services to the gas and oil industry.

Chief Executive Officer

Martyn Holman is Chief Executive Officer of Brightside Group plc. Martyn has been involved with Brightside Group plc for many years and has played a pivotal role in guiding the Group to 10 successive years of growth.  He first joined Brightside as Chairman of the Broking Division. In 2002 he established One Business Insurance Solutions, a business that is still part of the Group.  Since then he has been responsible for operational strategy and relationships with insurers and underwriters for all businesses across the Group. Martyn has over 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry and has become an expert in his field, recognising instinctively what will work and what won’t.  He has the ability to understand both client and insurer needs and marry the two in a way that recognises the added value in the deal.  Martyn’s inclusive management style provides Brightside with a sound foundation and supports a collaborative approach to growth and improvement. Prior to joining the Group, Martyn held senior positions with Marsh, Zenith and Ageas.

Paul Chase-Gardener

Director of Finance

Paul Chase-Gardener is Director of Finance at Brightside Group plc. Paul has been integral to Brightside Group plc success over the years.  He co-founded Brightside in 2005 and prior to this, he was Chairman and Finance Director at Group Direct Limited, which was subject to a reverse takeover by Brightside in June 2008. Aside from Paul’s significant role within Brightside, he is also a Non-Executive Director of IOFINA plc, an AIM listed iodine production company based in the USA. Before his involvement with Brightside, Paul was Chairman of both Southern Rock Insurance Company Limited and New Law LLP (Solicitors).  In addition, he was the former Managing Director and substantial shareholder of Bladon Group plc, until a successful trade sale to Ingham’s Travel. Paul has a background in chartered accountancy, having trained and qualified with Price Waterhouse Coopers in London. 

JOHN GANNON
John Gannon
Director of Direct Broking

John Gannon is Director of Direct Broking at Brightside Group plc. John has been a part of Brightside Group plc from the beginning.  Prior to co-founding Brightside in 2005, he was heavily involved in setting up Commercial Vehicle Direct Insurance Services Limited; a business that is still part of the Group today.  He has been instrumental in the business’ development, building what was a small start-up into a successful plc that consists of multiple businesses and brands that complement one another. Aside from John’s key role within Brightside, he has also been involved in other successful business start-ups, including Cardiff-based law firm, NewLaw. John first moved to the UK in 1993 where he qualified in English law.  Prior to this he trained to be a Solicitor and Barrister in his native Australia.

Helen Molyneux

Non-Executive Director

Helen Molyneux is a Non-Executive Director at Brightside Group plc. Helen is also a member of the Audit and Remuneration committees. Qualifying as a solicitor in 1990, Helen went on to become a partner at Eversheds.  In 2004 she set up NewLaw, a Cardiff based law firm specialising in providing claims management services to insurers and brokers.  Helen has been on the board at Brightside since September 2006.

Stuart Palmer

Non-Executive Director

Stuart Palmer is a Non-Executive Director at Brightside Group plc.  Stuart is also chairman of the Audit Committee and a Member of the Remuneration Committee. Stuart qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Touche Ross before going on to hold a number of senior financial positions at companies including WPP, Crest Nicholson and Lafarge.  In addition to his role at Brightside, Stuart holds a number of directorships at a variety of organisations.

Julian Telling

Non-Executive Director

Julian Telling is a Non-Executive Director at Brightside Group plc. Prior to joining Brightside Group plc Julian built up Sumus into one of the largest Independent Financial Advisers (IFAs) in the UK. The business was admitted to AIM in 2005 and merged with Lighthouse plc during 2008. After 25 years, Julian left the Company to pursue other business interests in finance, property and aviation. He holds a variety of directorships including a number of pro bono positions.
